Before saying something, taste this wine! White, very bright, with greenish sparks. Aroma? The aroma is surprising – very bright, expressive, spicy, languid sunshine, exotic fruits … This aroma occurs in late harvest dessert wines.
The taste? Dry wine with strong minerality. Intriguing, captivating, unusual, romantic wine. The oenologist believes that it is precisely for the originality that this year the wine received a gold medal at the world exhibition in Brussels. The wine is called Minutolo – with the name of a grape variety grown in Puglia for centuries. Several years ago, winemakers drew attention to this grape and for the first time started making mono-ordered wine from it. “Minutolo” – in Apulian dialect it means small. This grape with small yellow berries is very fragrant and is probably a modification of the muscat, it is grown at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level, 20 km from the sea.
Poor rocky soils need a minute to express their minerality more clearly. Try again? Maybe! The primitivo wine, which this year has won three glasses of Gambero Rosso. The vine is 60 years old. Raised in the area of Gioia del Colle in Puglia, aged for two years in steel tanks, without barrels. It makes the impression of being quite young, has a fresh taste and at the same time the aroma of dark berries. It is usually recommended for meat, aged cheeses, but be careful – due to the fruity aroma, this wine can also be served with desserts.
