European Union, many times with the prestigious Blue Flag award.<\/p><p>The most characteristic beach is undoubtedly that of Lama Monachille, of white pebbles enclosed by sheer cliffs.<\/p><p>Among these walls stands the Grotta Palazzese restaurant, which according to the story told, Queen Giovanna I of Naples was bewitched by the panorama, so much so that she stopped for a loving encounter with her damsel.<\/p><p>The old city, enclosed on the high and jagged coast, still retains its beauty, with a succession of narrow streets, white houses and loggias overlooking the sea. \u00a0Polignano
